Often called Europe’s most southernmost fjord, just as stunning as a the real thing, but actually a submerged river valley with towering peaks surrounding a rocky coastline dotted with pretty waterside villages steeped in history and both the water and the climate here are much more Mediterranean. The BAY OF KOTOR is made up of four connected bays that stretch inland from the coast that make an excellent, sheltered, cruising ground.

There are 2 main ports suitable for boarding you crewed charter yacht: 

Kotor, at the head of of the bay, it looks like a normal waterside town until you get up close and see that it’s surrounded by city walls, built by the Venetians to protect it from invaders. These five-kilometre-long stone walls run right up into the steep hillside above the town and you can climb up them for a panoramic view across the bay. Inside the city gates is a medieval town made up of narrow cobbled alleyways lined with honey-coloured stone buildings.

Tivat, located between the mouth of the bay and Kotor, although one of the younger towns in region, one can still find renaissance building in the centre. However her biggest attraction in the newley constructed PORTO MONTENEGRO with it's state-of-the-art marina, regularly visited by some of the  largest superyachts. In addition, the developers have created a vibrant coastal community of waterfront residences, top quality hotels and restaurants, shopping, water sports and leisure facilities.

Getting there: The nearest airport is in Tivat, or there are more flights into Dubrovnik in Croatia, only 73km away. If you’re driving from Dubrovnik the narrow windy road around the bay is beautiful but you need to allow around 2 hours, especially in the peak summer months.

The Bay of Kotor is fast becoming a popular detstination for crewed charter yacht, not only for the beautiful scenery, but being outside of EU there is no VAT payable on charter fees, it as also only a short cruise, appproximatley 35nm to the ancient city of Dubrovnik and the stunning Croatian coastline & islands beyond. In some cases it is possible to arrange one way charters between Kotor and Dubrovnik or Split, subject to redelivery costs.
